While she has successfully stopped one war, there are still threats that lurk not too far behind. Rosemary continues with her life in the palace, continuing her quest to win the heart of her beloved Sir Leonhart. Michael makes an interesting addition to the cast, and a lot of the pieces are now in place for Rosemary to go do some truly crazy things in the future. So she's drawing on all her knowledge, and many of her allies, to start her counterattack. And since magic is a very rare thing in this world, it's not like she can handle said disease well without making significant preparations. Rosemary knows the plague will be the next problem, and even with the war prevented (or at least drastically minimized) the disease is still likely to appear. It's good to get the clarifications out of the way, as the plot going forward is a bigger focus.Īnd in that vein, this volume is a lot of setup for future activities. I do like that she and Leonhart have a few honest discussions about their relationship (namely, that Leonhart isn't even thinking of her romantically) and that she's realistic about "this is going to take probably another ten years." He does like her-as a child to protect, not as a potential spouse.

And Rosemary has no idea how to handle the real life Michael. Real life Michael is a timid boy who shares pretty much nothing with his game counterpart aside from looks. Game Michael is suave, confident, dangerous. And Michael is challenging in a way different from anyone she's ever known. But she's learning to reach outside herself for help, a little. Rosemary has a problem with internalizing all her worries and plans, because she's unable to properly explain how her future knowledge came about. Stopping the Demon Lord's resurrection is one of her major goals-but when she accidentally runs across Michael, the unfortunate boy who ends up as the Demon Lord's future host, she realizes there's more going on here than she can tell from a mere game. Rosemary has headed off one major threat, but there are more to come.
